first 40

new year’s resolutions are kind of weird if you think about it. the only thing that has changed is the number on a calendar, but we feel like we have a completely new slate and fresh start in life.  but that’s exactly why i’m not ashamed to say that i’m a ‘new year’s resolution’ kind of guy.  there is certainly something very appealing about a new start, a new chance to try to change your life.  i follow Christ precisely for that reason alone… i don’t have to wait until the calendar turns from dec 31 to jan 1 in order to experience transformation.

that being said, i didn’t really make a ‘new year’s resolution.’ i did, however, commit to investing myself in God’s word again.  i decided that for the first 40 days of 2012 i will simply read a chapter a day, and for some reason i chose Acts.  i’m hoping to create good reading habits again, and to once again feel like i can’t go a single day without relying on God’s word.  so it begins, and i will write a small reflection on the day’s reading here…
